1. New Features (To Be Implemented)
- Provide support for capture, read
and display filters. (HIGH)
- Provide support for capturing to temporary files. Ethereal has support
for this already. (HIGH)
- Implement preferences that are in line with Ethereal's preferences.
(LOW)
- Implement saving of preference data using standard Eclipse interfaces.
(LOW)
2. Bug Fixes
- Make the current integration with Ethereal more robust. (HIGH)
- The current protocol analysis tree displays more nodes than does Ethereal.
This needs to be fixed. (HIGH)
- Some analysis data have some hyperlinks in them that allow a user to
click on them to take the user to a specific frame. Try to implement this.
(LOW)
- Try to fix the bug that causes a packet trace session on a Generic
NDIS WAN adapter to crash the JVM. This is less in priority than implementing
the new features. (LOW)
- The ParfumBall perspective seems to have problems when it is uninstalled
and then re-installed. Fix the bug so that sessions can be restored smoothly. (LOW)
3. Future Releases
- Implement Linux support (integration with libpcap).
- Try to discover if the IP address of a network interface changes
while the plugin is active. This can happen if the machine on which the
plugin is running is a laptop and is mobile.
